The stage is set, the instruments are tuned, and the city is buzzing with excitement as the 3rd annual Downtown Orlando Jazz Festival approaches. From seasoned jazz aficionados to curious newcomers, there’s an undeniable allure to this celebration of music, culture, and creativity.

Presented in its first edition in Miami in 2014, D.T.O Jazz Festival has since found its home in the City of Orlando. This year’s festival takes place on Sunday April 28th (which also happens to be International Jazz Day!) at the Walt Disney Amphitheatre in Lake Eola Park. From 12pm to 7pm residents and visitors alike can enjoy an afternoon full of local and international talent in a variety of jazz genres including Cubop, Fusion, Latin and more.

Headlining the event is Scatter the Atoms that Remain featuring drummer, composer and bandleader Franklin Kiermyer, Pianist and composer Davis Whitfield, with special guest and great trumpeter and composer Randy Brecker. Prepare to be swept away by their spellbinding performance, which promises to be a fusion of virtuosity, innovation, and the spiritual essence of jazz molded by decades of experience.

In addition to the headline act, the festival will also feature the Florida Symphony Youth Orchestra’s Alphonse Carlo Jazz Band. Comprising of talented local students aged 14 to 20 and led by the esteemed Kenneth Boyd, this ensemble is sure to impress with their passion, skill, and youthful energy.

One of the most remarkable aspects of the Downtown Orlando Jazz Festival is its accessibility. General admission to this extraordinary event is absolutely free, ensuring that live music remains inclusive and available to all. Whether you’re a dedicated jazz enthusiast or simply looking for a memorable way to spend a Sunday afternoon, the festival welcomes you with open arms.

So mark your calendars, gather your friends and family, and head to Lake Eola Park for a day of music, community, and celebration. Let the rhythm of jazz sweep you away as we come together to honor this timeless art form and revel in the magic of live music. The Downtown Orlando Jazz Festival awaits – don’t miss your chance to be a part of it!
