What if art could do more than inspire, what if it could help put food on the table?

That is the vision behind Art Pollination: Building Food Justice through Creativity, a powerful initiative led by the City of Orlando with support from United Arts. This project transforms public spaces into living canvases where artists and community members come together to address food access, sustainability, and equity.

At the heart of this work is artist Juan William Chávez, whose creative leadership is guiding murals, storytelling, and hands-on activities that connect neighborhoods to conversations about health, justice, and belonging. By working side by side with communities, Chávez is planting the seeds of awareness and action, showing how the arts can drive change that is as practical as it is inspiring.

The project was made possible by Bloomberg Philanthropies’ Public Art Challenge, which awarded the City of Orlando $1 million to create art that addresses critical civic issues. With additional support from United Arts, this national recognition is helping Orlando demonstrate how the arts can build stronger, healthier communities.

This is what it looks like when art and community flourish together: imagination that nourishes both hearts and homes.

United Arts is proud to support projects like Art Pollination, because they remind us that art is not a luxury. It is essential.
