Originally founded in 1926, Orlando Family Stage has a vision to create meaningful and accessible theatrical experiences, the organization continues to set the stage for inclusion, inspiration, creativity, and connection.

At the heart of the almost 100-year-old organization is a dedication to empowering young people to be brave and empathetic through the transformative power of storytelling. These principles guide their work, from culturally diverse programming to community engagement initiatives like Baby and Me and Theatre for the Very Young, ensuring there’s something for everyone.

As the holiday season approaches, Orlando Family Stage is bringing the timeless joy of A Charlie Brown Christmas: Live On Stage to audiences in Central Florida and beyond thanks to a collaboration with New York-based Gershwin Entertainment. Over the last 18 months, these organizations have built a strong relationship, exploring multi-year projects that bring powerful stories to life. Orlando Family Stage brought their expertise to refresh and enhance their production of A Charlie Brown Christmas: Live On Stage, revamping scenery, costumes, and props, while also designing new sound and lighting. Two talented casts were rehearsed, showcasing Central Florida performers and graduates from the University of Central Florida’s stage management program. This local talent will support the show in Orlando through December 29 and on a 32-city tour across the United States.

Whether it’s enlightening audiences with exceptional family theatre productions or using books and plays as tools to champion literacy, Orlando Family Stage is making an indelible mark on young lives. One of Orlando Family Stage’s initiatives, the No Empty Seat helps to remove barriers for children who might not otherwise have access to live theatre. By raising funds to provide free tickets, the program ensures that the joy, inspiration, and lessons of theatre are available to all, regardless of economic circumstances. Every dollar donated to the campaign brings a child closer to experiencing quality arts programming in their own backyard.

Orlando Family Stage faces a unique challenge: its audience is always evolving as children grow up and so they must continue to welcome new families and introduce them to the transformative power of theatre. United Arts’ support, alongside contributions from Orange County and other local patrons, helps ensure that Orlando Family Stage continues to grow its reach. As Orlando Family Stage approaches its centennial celebration in 2026, they’re inviting the community to play a part in their journey. Whether by attending a show, donating to initiatives like No Empty Seat, or simply spreading the word, you can help ensure that the magic of theatre continues to inspire generations to come.
