Orange County Public Schools Superintendent Maria F. Vazquez, Ed.D., has been an educator for 35 years and a district leader for 31 years. She has served at every level of the education system and has extensive expertise in curriculum and instruction, including as a classroom teacher, principal and area superintendent. She was chosen as deputy superintendent in 2018 and became superintendent in 2022. The daughter of Cuban immigrants to Florida, Vazquez started school as an English language learner and personally experienced the life-changing impact of education. She has dedicated her career to ensuring every student has a pathway to success. As a leader, she has built relationships with employees, parents and students  has found that building relationships brings out the best in every employee.  She is proud to serve on several local boards including United Arts of Central Florida, and she and her husband have three adult children and three grandsons.
