ORLANDO – October 6, 2022 – United Arts of Central Florida receives $25,000 from the Universal Orlando Foundation to strengthen and expand its youth development program. This funding will allow United Arts to expand its existing youth development program to reach students in Lake, Osceola and Seminole counties.

The vision of United Arts is to increase access to the arts for all people of Central Florida by 2025. To achieve this vision, United Arts has set strategic goals to be more intentional to grow the grants and outreach programs that are inclusive, equitable, impactful, and sustainable. With this increased funding, students in Lake, Osceola and Seminole counties will now be exposed to arts and cultural experiences that will expand creative thinking and introduce them to cultural experiences that reflect our region’s incredibly diverse population.

“Participation in arts and cultural activities is increasingly being associated with improved health and well-being, healthier aging, and strengthening of communities,” said Jennifer Evins, president, and CEO of United Arts. “We are so thankful to the Universal Orlando Foundation for allowing us to ensure the arts are accessible to all in our community.”

A foundational goal of this program is to increase the use of teaching artists that reflect the diversity of our region. By providing creative learning experiences, students gain new perspectives, deepen empathy, and learn collaboration. Expanding arts education for students in Lake, Osceola and Seminole counties is to ensure access to diverse quality arts education.

Support from the Universal Orlando Foundation allows United Arts to work alongside the public school system and any afterschool outlet to increase free access to arts and culture and will have a direct influence with underserved youth in the community. United Arts often provides the students their first glimpse of arts and culture and will work closely with each school district and the youth program directors to identify their needs. With this funding, United Arts will be able to ensure that the arts are diverse, inclusive and accessible to youth in Central Florida.
